Web site building tips

  • First of all, which IDE to use for the code writing?
In the Operation Systems the easy way is to write it with simple text editor (and save as HTML file) but I think that it isn't a good choice I prefer to write using a special HTML editor.
You don't most to buy a expensive IDE, you can use a free IDE like Notepad++ (it's Open Source program) or Microsoft Visual Web Developer Express Edition (its also free, and include WYSIWYG option).
  • What is the best way to learn website building? First of all is to learn from guides, but I think that the best why is to see other's source and then, you can learn the Client-Side (HTML,CSS,JavaScript).
And more so, if you surf with an upgraded browser you can use the Developer Tools and use the Inspect Element feature then you can click on element in the page and see it's source.
  • Write code according to the W3C recommendations. It will make your web site look the same in the all the browsers (which programming according to the recommendations).
  • When you finish your website, and you think that you wrote it according to tip 1, check your web site in the W3C Markup Validation Service (free service).

Valid XHTML 1.0 Transitional      Valid CSS!
This document was successfully checked as XHTML 1.0 Transitional!

  • And now, when you think that your website is ready, take it to 'Test-Drive' in all the different browsers: Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Opera, Chrome (there are more, but they are minor),and see if it runs the same in all of them.
  • Ok now after your web site work, pay attention to security.
Internet security is a very big thing but for start take a look at the most common 'Security Break' the XSS and the SQL Injection.
So now, try to hack your site, and if there is a problem fix it.
If you have seen a 'break security' in other websites be a 'White Hacker' and report about it to the webmaster.

  • Remember - designing is good for surf experience but, it is not everything. Building a useful site with a high level of contents is much more important (Artiom agree with me : ). There a lot of designed site's but, without good contents, what is it worth?.

Photography tips

  • When you take pictures of your team and the robot, watch out and don't always use the 'Auto Mode'. Try to change the Exposure Value (EV) the ISO/ASA Speed & Exposure, the Shutter Speed and the f-Stops (Lens Aperture)
  • When you take pictures of the team use the 'Remove Red Eyes' option.
  • Never use the Digital Zoom, not in mobile phones and not in cameras, it destroys the picture.
